My first day of summer, June 21, 2014, began with a real scenic drive to Club Getaway, hidden in the sticks of Kent, Connecticut! I was a second photographer for Jarred Bonica, a wedding photographer from New Jersey. It was a beautiful day for an outdoor wedding among the Berkshire Mountains for the bride and groom, Jaime and TJ. Club Getaway is a sports and adventure resort on 300-acres overlooking a lake. Club Getaway has rustic log cabins, a small sandy beach, obstacle courses, and plenty of open space for the large white tent…perfect for a sheltered outdoor reception or party!
Jaime and TJ wanted to be non-traditional and fun, so instead of typical bouquets and boutineers, they hand-made blue & green pinwheels out of scrapbook paper and pins.
TJ actually showed me a few different types of rope for literally “tying the knot” with Jaimie in their ceremony. It was neat to see this incorporated into the ceremony! They didn’t want to do sand or candles that might blow out. The rope fits in great with their wedding being outdoors in the breeze…it’s simple.
How special it was that TJ’s close friend got licensed/registered to be an officiant just for their wedding! Special to actually marry your best friend.
